I am back with a update. I know it has been a few days but I have been trying to be really productive and development has been taking up all my time. I thought it would be a good idea to take a break and show some love to the blog.
Peter has finally got the editor going and its shaping up really nice. Not to mention he began work on the game engine for Pure Stealth today so that was fun to see it finally moving. Its been in the works a lot longer then expected but that’s how it goes in game development. He created a lot of useful tools that will really speed up development for all of our future projects and some things that other programmers would never even attempt, but since we are really looking to the future it was completely necessary. Even if we ended up not releasing a game for while.
Now the problem is that he will be leaving for a week next Friday so we are hoping to finish Pure Stealth and have it presentable for bidding on FGL before he leaves. It does seem like a lot of work, but our last two games were made in 2 weeks from start to finish. So since all the art is already done I am confidant that we can do it. Its just a little daunting actually giving ourselves such a goal.
Since Peter has been so busy and I haven’t been able to design levels (since the level editor wasn’t done before) I had started another project that many of you may have seen in my previous post. I have decided to call the game “Marty”. The game follows Marty, a space janitor, who’s job is to obviously clean up all the floating debris in space. Let me tell you a little about the story!
The game begins with Marty’s Janitorial Services ship puttering its way through space. All seems well until, as if from nowhere, a giant monster begins consuming all the planets and stars around him. Marty, now stuck in the crossfire, struggles to escape and pushes his poor ship to its limit but in the end is forced to evacuate. Barely escaping at the last moment Marty manages to float his way to a nearby asteroid. Once Marty lands he angrily shakes his fist at the monster as he zooms away. At that moment Marty is struck with a realization! The giant monster is bee lining straight for his home planet and he is the only one who can stop it. Marty must now travel through space with his trusty jet pack and vacuum locating worm holes, collecting gems, defeating monsters and saving stranded aliens in an attempt to beat the monster to his home and save the day!
Here is a quick image I put together. I just wanted to include a little of everything and collect some feedback.
The story is nothing amazing but I like it and it seems to fit well with the games style. Currently I have been working on enemies and just crossing everything off on my list and should have EVERYTHING done in the next 2-3 days.
